The INDH states that despite budgetary constraints it has received an appropriate budget which allows it to fulfil its mandate. The SCA notes that the NHRI is currently undertaking discussions with relevant authorities for its 2026 budget with a request for an increase to expand the institution’s work in remote areas of the country.

The SCA is of the view that adequate funding should ensure the gradual and progressive realization of the improvement of the NHRI´s operation and fulfillment of its mandate.

The SCA encourages the INDH to continue advocating for a progressive increase in its budget as well as for a base of core budget that will allow it to carry out the breadth of its mandate

despite any unforeseen circumstances the country may face.

The SCA refers to Paris Principle B.2 and to its General Observation 1.10 on “Adequate funding for NHRIs”.
