Ombudsman of Colombia appointed for position of GANHRI Chairperson
On 21 October 2021, the regional NHRI network of the Americas (RINDHCA), appointed Carlos Ernesto Camargo Assis, Ombudsman of Colombia, as candidate for the position of GANHRI Chairperson.
Mr. Camargo Assis was appointed by RINDHCA to serve for the remainder of the term of GANHRI Chairperson, currently hosted by the Americas, in substitution of Dr Freddy Carrión Intriago, former Ombudsman of Ecuador.

Mr. Camargo Assis is a Lawyer from Sergio Arboleda University. He holds a doctorate and a Master’s degree in Administrative Law from the same institution. He has also completed studies in Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law from American University in Washington D.C. and is a graduate of the Comprehensive Course in National Defense-Cidenal from Escuela Superior de Guerra.
To secure a smooth and timely transition, a GANHRI Extraordinary General Assembly will be held in December to confirm the election of the new GANHRI Chairperson.
More information about the process for the election, as well as all other relevant information, will be communicated to GANHRI members soon.
