54th Human Rights Council Session 

11 September – 13 October  I  UN Palais des Nations, Geneva 

The 54th session of the UN Human Rights Council will take place in person, from 11 September to 13 October 2023 at the UN Palais des Nations in Geneva. 

National human rights institutions that are accredited in full compliance with the Paris Principles may attend in person, engage in all agenda items with oral or written interventions, and participate in and host side events and other meetings on the Council sidelines. 

The proceedings can also be followed online through a live webcast. 

Throughout the session, the Council will host panel discussions, engage in interactive debates with Special Procedure mandate holders, adopt outcome reports from the Universal Periodic Review and consider the appointments of two Special Procedures mandate holders.    

More than 20 resolutions and other texts on both thematic and country specific topics are expected to be adopted by the Council at the end of its session.   

Throughout the session, GANHRI will contribute to discussions on: 

  • Item 3: Sustainable Development Goals and the Agenda 2030 
  • Item 3: Interactive Dialogue with the Independent Expert on the enjoyment of all human rights by older persons 
  • Item 5: Interactive Dialogue on the Secretary General’s report on cooperation with the United Nations its mechanisms and representatives in the field of human rights  

GANHRI’s Geneva-based Head Office will also support individual GANHRI members worldwide to engage with the Human Rights Council.
