General Comment on Sustainable Development & the ICESCR.
The United Nations Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR) is currently working on a General Comment on Sustainable Development & the ICESCR.
In this context, the CESCR will involve children and youth from all over the world aged 12-17 within three consultations. For this process, the CESCR is cooperating with the German NHRI, the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (Geneva Regional Office), the NGO Child Rights Connect and the Human Rights Law Centre of the University of Nottingham.
The three child& youth friendly Consultations on Sustainable Development & the ICESCR will take place on the 5th and 6th of April 2022 at different times to suit the time zones of different world regions.
Each of the meetings takes 2 hours, with identical content.
Each consultation will include a maximum of 50 children/youth who have been previously recommended to the organisers by organisations from all over world with child/youth expertise.
All consultations will be held in English, one consultation will also have simultaneous interpretation in French, another in Spanish. The preparatory documents are also available in German. If further translations are required, please feel free to contact the organisers.
If they can recommend children and youth who are interested in participating in one of the three consultations, they are kindly asked to contact Child Rights Connect (Leire Ibáñez (she/her) at ibanez@childrightsconnect.org and Ana Carla Carlos (she/her) at hrc.programmes@childrightsconnect.org) as soon as possible.
Please note that this is not yet a formal application. The main purpose of this first expression of interest is to give the CESCR and the organizers an idea about the potential participants.
