GANHRI Engagement at the 58th Session of the Human Rights Council

From 24 February to 4 April, the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) and NHRIs from around the world will actively engage at the 58th session of the Human Rights Council (HRC).
HRC58 will commence with a high-level segment featuring distinguished speakers, including UN General Assembly President H.E. Philemon Yang, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk.
Throughout the session, the Council will host several panel discussions, including a high-level discussion to mark the thirtieth anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform of Action, and an Interactive debate on the rights of persons with disabilities. The Council will also engage in interactive debates with Special Procedure mandates holders, and review outcome reports from the Universal Periodic Review.
GANHRI key priorities for this session will include contributing to the discussion on the Special Rapporteur’s latest report on human rights defenders working in isolated, remote, and rural contexts, as well as advocating for the human rights of older persons and promoting the rights of persons with disabilities
