GANHRI Bureau to meet in Copenhagen to discuss work in support of National Human Rights Institutions
The Bureau of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI), will be commencing a one-day meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 5th November to review progress in implementing activities and discuss future activities that will drive GANHRI’s work in support of national human rights institutions (NHRIs).
Members of the Bureau, including the Chairperson, Secretary and Regional Chairpersons, representatives of the GANHRI Head Office, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), are meeting to discuss important developments impacting human rights in the different regions.
The meeting will be co-chaired by GANHRI Chairperson, Maryam Al-Attiyah, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Committee of Qatar and GANHRI Secretary, Amina Bouayach, President of the National Human Rights Commission of Morocco.
Bureau members will discuss strategic priorities for the upcoming year and receive updates from GANHRI’s Sub Committee on Accreditation (SCA), the four regional networks, its partners, the finance committee, and its Working Groups.
Cases of reprisals and threats against NHRIs will also be addressed during the meeting.
The meeting will precede the 14th International Conference of NHRIs focusing on the role of NHRIs in addressing torture and other ill-treatment, taking place from 6 to 8 November 2023 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
