The proceedings can also be followed online through a live webcast.

Human Rights Council session

Throughout the session, the Council will host panel discussions, engage in interactive debates with Special Procedure mandate holders, adopt outcome reports from the Universal Periodic Review and consider the appointments of 10 Special Procedures mandate holders.

More than 30 resolutions and other texts on both thematic and country specific topics are expected to be adopted by the Council at the end of its session.

The OHCHR website offers an overview of the session and provides links to reports and other documentation.

A key priority for GANHRI and others at this session will be supporting the renewal of the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights Defenders.

In line with our Global Action Plan on Human Rights Defenders, we will be releasing a statement calling for the renewal of the mandate, in support of our advocacy in Geneva and your advocacy at country level.

We will also highlight the 30th anniversary of the Paris Principles and the 75th anniversary of the UDHR; engage during the interactive dialogue with the SR on HRDs on her report, and during the interactive dialogue with the SR on Torture on her report, to highlight the upcoming 14th International Conference of NHRIs on Torture and Ill-Treatment, in 2023.
