Webinar – Individual complaint mechanisms of the Special Procedures (SPMH)

2 December 2020, 10.00- 11.30 CET

Dear colleagues,

On behalf of the Global Protection Cluster Human Rights Engagement Task Team, we would like to invite you to a webinar focusing on Individual complaint mechanisms of the Special Procedures (SPMH).

This webinar comes as a follow up of our Task Team’s event held on 16th September, where more details on individual complain mechanisms were requested.

Background

The term “immediate interventions” refers to interim measures of protection and urgent appeals issued by UN human rights bodies pursuant to their individual complaint procedures. The individual complaint procedures are mechanisms for bringing cases of alleged human rights violations to the attention of the United Nations, with a view to halt, prevent such violations or seek redress in case they have already occurred.

This webinar will focus on individual complaint mechanisms under the Special Procedures (SPMHs) of theHuman Rights Council. Complaints can be submitted by the individual who has suffered the alleged human rights violation or on that person’s behalf, including for example a non-governmental organisation or UN entity.

The event is organized by the Task Team, featuring OHCHR as panelist and will take place on 2nd December 2020, 10.00- 11.30 CET (Geneva Time). You can find more information about the Human Rights Engagement Task Team here.
