Call for submissions: Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples

Report on Repatriation of ceremonial objects and human remains under the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) would hereby like to call for submissions from National Human Rights Institutions and Regional Human Rights Mechanisms to a report being prepared by the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

During its inter-sessional meeting in October 2019, the Expert Mechanism decided that its next report on good practices and lessons learned regarding efforts to achieve the ends of the Declaration (Human Rights Council resolution 33/25, paragraph 2b), would focus on the theme of Repatriation of ceremonial objects and human remains under the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

The report will be presented to the Human Rights Council at its forty-fifth session in September 2020.

Further to a request by the Expert Mechanism, OHCHR encourages National Human Rights Institutions and Regional Human Rights Mechanisms to provide contributions to this report, in English, French or Spanish, to expertmechanism@ohchr.org, no later than 15 April 2020.

All submissions will be placed on the OHCHR website unless indicated otherwise.
