2020 Annual Meeting
From 3 to 4 December 2020, more than 300 participants from NHRIs, UN partners and experts met online for the GANHRI 2020 Annual Meeting. Participants discussed innovative strategies and promising practices developed by NHRIs to safeguard human rights during the COVID-19 pandemic. They also discussed NHRI experiences to address the human rights impacts of climate change and adopted a forward-looking outcome Statement highlighting actions they resolve to undertake.
GANHRI’s 2020 Knowledge Exchange focused on addressing the several human rights implications generated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
It was an opportunity for all NHRIs to discuss and take stock of promising practices, innovative approaches and methodologies developed relating to the exercise of their mandate and functions in the context of the health emergency and resulting challenges.
The Annual Conference brought together participants from NHRIs from all regions, partners from the UN and experts to consider the role and contributions of NHRIs to address the human rights impacts of climate change. They shared practical strategies for NHRIs to employ in the protection and promotion of human rights in the context of a changing climate. Participating NHRIs also adopted an outcome Statement on Climate change and NHRIs.VIEW MORE
The 2020 General Assembly took place virtually through a dedicated online platform where NHRIs could access all supporting documents and video materials. Voting members could also vote on the items submitted to their attention.VIEW MORE
