NHRIS KEY ACTORS TO PROMOTE VISIBILITY OF IDPS WITH DISABILITIES
On 9 July 2020, the Special Rapporteur on Internally Displaced Persons, Cecilia Jimenez-Damary, presented her report on the issue of persons with disabilities in the context of internal displacement at the 44th session of the Human Rights Council.
The report highlights how internally displaced persons with disabilities face multiple and intersectional forms of discrimination based on grounds such as gender, age, ethnicity, religion, group affiliation and displacement itself.
The report also stresses how the current lack of accurate and disaggregated data on the situation of persons with disabilities living in the context of displacement is a significant challenge in ensuring their situation and needs are properly addressed.

NHRIS ARE IMPORTANT FACILITATORS OF ACCESS TO REMEDIES FOR BUSINESS RELATED GRIEVANCES
Geneva, 9 July 2020 -The Working Group on the Issue of Human Rights and Transnational Corporations and other business enterprises presented their report at the 44th session of the Human Rights Council on connecting the business and human rights and anti-corruption agendas.
In October 2019, GANHRI co-hosted with the UN Working Group and OHCHR a two-day global consultation on the role of national human rights institutions in facilitating access to remedy for business-related human rights abuses. The consultation was joined by more than 35 representatives from national human rights institutions and partners from civil society, business and the United Nations, who gathered to discuss national human rights institutions’ experiences, challenges, lessons learned, and innovative practices in facilitating access to remedy.
